Abstract:
Sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD), including conditions like obstructive sleep apnea, are highly prevalent and have significant repercussions on quality of life and overall health. Treatment options for SRBD range from lifestyle modifications and CPAP therapy to surgical interventions. Aging is an important factor that can influence the success and suitability of these treatments. This talk aims to discuss the impact of aging on the surgical treatment options available for sleep-related breathing disorders. It will explore how aging affects the anatomy, physiology, and comorbidities that are often considered when evaluating surgical treatment options for SRBD.
