Abstract:
Hypnotic medications are recommended for short-term use, but long-term use is prevalent in clinical practice. The issue of hypnotic dependence has emerged as a significant concern regarding extended use. This presentation will discuss the findings from a series of studies that investigate the psychological factors associated with long-term hypnotic use, including cognitive determinants and craving for these medications. Additionally, it will explore the effects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) combined with craving management in facilitating the tapering of hypnotics.
