Abstract: |
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a prevalent sleep disorder characterized by repeated episodes of partial or complete upper airway obstruction during sleep, leading to disrupted sleep patterns and a range of associated health complications. Effective management of adult OSA patients requires a multidisciplinary approach that integrates dental, medical, and sleep-specialized care. This lecture focuses on collaborative models involving sleep specialists, dentists, and other medical professionals to optimize the diagnosis, treatment, and management of OSA. It will highlight evidence-based strategies for fostering successful collaboration, with an emphasis on timely referrals, effective communication, coordinated care pathways, patient education and awareness, and regular follow-up. Attendees will gain insights into how a comprehensive, coordinated approach can lead to better patient outcomes and overall management of OSA. |
