Abstract:
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) often coexists with chronic respiratory diseases like pulmonary fibrosis (PF), complicating diagnosis and management. The combination of OSA's airway obstructions and PF's impaired lung function worsens respiratory issues and increases the risk of cardiovascular problems. OSA can also accelerate the decline in lung function in conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Early diagnosis and treatment of OSA, particularly with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, are crucial for improving patient outcomes. A comprehensive, personalized approach is needed to manage both OSA and chronic respiratory diseases effectively.
