Abstract:
Positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy remains a cornerstone of treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, but achieving optimal clinical outcomes requires more than prescribing an effective device. Early experiences with therapy, treatment-related side effects, patient engagement, and timely clinical support can strongly influence long-term use and effectiveness.
Connected PAP platforms and digital health technologies are creating opportunities to move from episodic follow-up toward more proactive, data-informed care. Remote monitoring can identify problems such as mask leak, residual respiratory events, pressure intolerance, and declining usage, while patient-facing applications, digital education, and telehealth can support engagement and facilitate earlier, targeted intervention.
This presentation will examine how connected care can be integrated into clinical pathways to support PAP initiation and long-term management. It will also explore how device-derived data, clinical information, and patient-reported experience can be combined to personalise treatment and support, with the goal of improving adherence, therapeutic effectiveness, patient experience, and efficiency of care.
